Soccer Vision & Style of Play

The Ridgeline Girls soccer program has the potential to be a top performer in both local and statewide competition. Regardless of team placement on Varsity, Junior Varsity or C squad players will be valued and benefit from a rewarding and challenging environment. The ultimate goal is to ensure that on an annual basis the program competes for the GSL title, participates in postseason play and challenges for state honors while maintaining the highest possible academic standards.

We will be a possession-oriented team with major emphasis placed on each player’s technical ability and decision making. Every day players will be a part of a soccer environment that demands attention to detail, focus on teamwork and dedication to the team, teammates and coaches. Junior Varsity and C squad teams will be integrated regularly and will be encouraged to adopt the same principles of play to ensure seamless promotion of players.

The demands made of each player will be intense but rewarding. We will build a culture of accountability where excellence is rewarded, and player mistakes are encouraged and used as a means of learning. Each day at practice and on game days players will be challenged mentally and physically to become better soccer players and better people.

We will be organized defensively and committed to our team’s game plan while playing free flowing attack minded soccer. We aim to attack from all positions on the field and each player will be expected to be part of a fluid system of play employing a 3-5-2, 3-4-3, and 4-4-2 formation. We will pressure teams with a high line of engagement to force mistakes and win possession when we do not have the ball. We will maintain possession while probing for weaknesses/opportunities to exploit defensive errors of opponents.

We will be a hard-working team who compete until the final whistle of each game. Our ultimate goal is to represent our school, our fellow students and our families in a manner that will make them proud while enjoying the

quality of soccer on display.
